I went in there because my new puppy had badly injured her leg and I just knew it was broken. So I asked them if they could just take a look. They told me they don't take walk-ins and wernt even going to help me. But they said that they had some time (there was no other person in there but me. I heard one other dog). The vet herself was nice though I didn't catch her name. They took xrays without pain meds and were moving her leg and fighting her as she wailed in pain for over 5 min. I felt so bad for my tiny puppy ( 5 lbs). Then the xrays were soo dark that I couldn't even see my dogs bones. But I thanked them and paid the 100 dollars for the xrays. They didn't do anything to help her leg. And I had to pay 175 dollars at a different vet because the xrays they gave me were so bad. And the other place gave her pain meds before doing xrays and fixed her leg for me. And the staff was super nice there. Will not be returning to ankeny vet
If you want someone who is knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely cares about you and your pets, you want the Riordan Vet Clinic.
Before I found them, I had just taken my cat to his usual vet for a regular checkup and was told that he had gingivitis, would need to have two of his teeth removed, and then was promptly given a cost estimate for surgery. With nothing but perfect checkups in the past, I was skeptical and ended up going to the Ankeny Vet Clinic to get a second opinion. We met with Dr. Dennis Riordan who explained that with my cat's breed it's not unusual for them to have a genetic predisposition toward developing gingivitis at a young age (6) and that my cat's teeth weren't bad yet. He told me that while extraction was an option and probably a necessity in the future, another option was a weekly oral rinse to reduce the infection and slow the progression of gingivitis so my cat could keep his teeth for a few more years.
And here we are now, my cat's teeth are 100% intact, his gums look much better, and I didn't have to pay someone to remove two perfectly healthy teeth. Dr. Riordan was awesome and it really seems like he cares and wants the best for every animal that comes through his office. That level of personal attention isn't something you can find just anywhere!
Over the years as my friends and coworkers have added new pets to their family, I have always highly recommended that they take their animals to the Riodan Vet Clinic. Those that have, have always had a fantastic experience.
My family has been bringing our pets to the Riordan Vet Clinic for years now. The quality and reliability of their service has always been top notch. They know what they're doing, take pride in their work, and don't hesitate to share their knowledge with you as a pet owner.
i went in to get earmite medicine for my cat and they said i had to bring her in to make sure it wasnt an infection. so basical they were calling me an idiot saying i dont no anything about my cat. i know what earmites look like im not stupid just give me the medicine. im trying to do the humane thing here, quit trying to milk more money out of me
I've taken my cat to multiple veterinarians over the years and while they've all been acceptable, the Ankeny Vet Clinic is second to none and truly makes you feel like family.
Their care for our pets is outstanding. Dr. Lisa Warren is wonderful. We love her.
