They canceled our 24 hour rental reservation and replaced it with a five hour rental without notifying us. We simply had no choice but to take the five hour anyway as our lease was up. We had no idea what we were going to do with our stuff since we couldn't move in to the new place until the next day, hence the 24 hour reservation. Eventually we figured it out. Unfortunately it took a total of 6 hours to figure out this ridiculous situation u haul put us in. U haul then called the police reporting the truck as stolen.
Went in cause I needed a 19.95 studio truck to move a couch from ankeny to south des moines. The receptionist didnt greet us, and was rude and annoyed that she had to get up. Some neck beard dude came from the back and said it would cost 120 dollars. For 45 minutes! They claimed it was 1.29 a mile plus "fees" and that the pickup wasn't any cheaper. I left due to false advertising and got the pickup on se14 th for 42 bucks when it was all done with. 69 cents a mile and no fees. Shop at a uhaul dealer and not this junkyard.

Oh, also they charged an extra $300 the moment it was late, even though that ability was not included in the signed contract that I took a picture of.
Don't do u haul, and get your reservations in writing.
They do NOT honor a reservation (which we had a full month in advance). Then when it takes you longer than they like for you to figure out the problem that THEY CREATED, they threaten you with felony charges.
So.... I am currently here waiting at 8:16 when they opened at 8 to pick up a uhaul and NOONE is here.... How can you open at 8 and not have anyone here?!?! Despite the reviews I came here bc all other uhaul places open at 9. May be waiting til then anyways it looks like!
